You know what this little fucker does? If the car was just turned off and the heat was running, you press it and it keeps the fan on low and circulates residual heat throughout the car for up to thirty minutes while you’re in the shops or whatever.

Do want. I love the E39 generation.

Stepdad has been floating around the idea looking at a new car for himself, new to him not brand new. I’ve been kinda pushing him to consider these. He likes Subarus and BMWs, so he is also looking at Foresters.

On mine I think its the “max” button. Its nice since in Germany it’s illegal to idle a car more than 3 minutes so you can have heat while sitting at a train crossing, etc.

Mine has auxiliary ventilation which you set up to turn on automatically at certain times (2 of them i think)/and it’ll circulate outside air through the cabin for 30 minutes. Useful for warm days to get stale air out of the car before you get off work. I’ve tried, never cared for it. To me, if it’s hot enough to make the cabin THAT uncomfortable then cycling equally hot outside air through the car won’t help.

I have something like that in an auxiliary heater for the rear i can turn on when the cars off. I find it cools off too fast to be of much help

I’d be happy to have that on my car, and I’m the sort of dude who’s perfectly comfortable with wind-up windows. It just sounds so damn useful in winter.

I have this in my e38 and absolutely love it. In the winter, I tap it before I step out of the car to go into places like the bank or grocery store. It’ll kick on the aux coolant pump and will keep the interior fan on low, using the cars hot coolant to keep the interior toasty. When the weather is cold and raw, there is no greater joy than jumping into a preheated leather and wood cacoon.

This actually turns on an auxiliary coolant pump and runs still-hot coolant through the heater core.
